Her account was taken by the Bavarian filmmakers, along with another book, to make the film, "Downfall", the story of the last 2 weeks of life in Hitler's bunker.

I ordered this book, then her interview on DVD, "Blindspot." Directed by Christoph Schaub.

I was moved to read this after watching 'Downfall' Traudl Junge's memoir is a fascinating glimpse of the Hitler's inner circle through the eyes of a young secretary.She saw a Hitler that the masses never saw,and it is sometimes hard to reconcile the monster with the man who could not face telling Traudl that her husband was dead, or the idea that she was totally ignorant of what was going on outside their sheltered existence.

This has to be a serious witness contender for the factual account of what happened in the bunker and beyond.

A well written account of life in Hitler's inner circle, a subject which has a fascination despite being one of the most brutal and murderous regimes ever, a fact that Traudl Junge seems to have either failed to notice or conveniently ignored.
