Christian Bale is well cast in this role with similarities to 007. This is one of the best if not the best 4K quality movie I've ever seen. This movie is not the Dark Knight about Batman. Good job by Christian Bale and his master piece of a superhero movie. This is really bad, after seeing 3000+ positive reviews I assumed it was going to be great. The stakes: beyond measure. So I started reading the reviews and all the reviews are for BATMAN- THE DARK KNIGHT not this really bad show. For a Batman film, it's great and masterful, but because of its predecessor, it's perpetually caught in its shadow, in part because, rather than escalate the themes introduced from the very start with Batman Begins (escalation of mob violence and corruption, police militarization, and the increasingly fragile 'cold war' of police vs organized crime), it throws them all away in order to clumsily mess around with some entirely new themes vaguely resembling income inequality and social upheaval. Story wise - it both tells the story of a superhero and a crime-ridden city with corrupt people, a love triangle and a tragedy, the corruption of good ("you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"), but also the goodness of humanity that overrides even our desire for survival.
First, this is a TV show, not the Batman movie. The only problem I had was, it doesn't have Dolby Atmos surround sound. The Dark Knight was the second of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy (Batman Begins/Dark Knight/Dark Knight Rises) - this review will be focusing on the 4K Upgrade rather than the movie itself. Without argument though, Heath Ledger steals the entire film with his darkly mesmerising portrayal of a genuinely unnerving Joker - the only Joker in any Batman realisation I've ever found genuinely scary (or anything at all other than silly or funny with the previous versions).
