Gordon asks Ed if he has heard from Kristen Kringle lately. The synopsis of the manipulative riddles-obsessed criminal Edward Nygma earned his degree at Gotham University, and won the Whippleburn Prize for excellence in criminal science writing for an article titled "What’s Wrong With This Right? While suspicious about Bruce Wayne's look-a-like, Selina decides to go out to dinner with him. The two escape the building and flee into the streets of Gotham. After an encounter with a Bruce Wayne look-a-like, Ivy gets caught by Fish Mooney's minion Nancy while trying to warn Selina. She later exposes "Gordon" at the Police Station as being Six months later, Barbara and Tabitha have opened Sirens Nightclub, and while she and Barbara are shown to be in a romantic relationship, she still harbors some feelings for Gordon. When Selina finally was awoken, Ivy was against her plan to go to Wayne Manor. Nygma later deduces the location of the warehouse where the Red Hood Gang are hiding. Jeremiah's shooting plot was thwarted by Selina. Nygma gets a letter from Isabella to come to see her. Tabitha and Selina end up aligning with a revived Barbara. Nygma nervously says "I'm glad he's dead." Butch persuades Nygma to change the situation as the latter is just going to kill the former regardless of what choice is made. Barnes is taken to a private lab owned by the Court of Owls where Kathryn had Hugo Strange extract Alice Tetch's poisonous blood from him. Oswald claims that the Riddler is gone and Nygma is currently even less than Ed Nygma, because the real Ed Nygma would have realized something. His hate speech is interrupted when Tabitha storms the room, having escaped her captors. His plans are thwarted by the Gotham City Police Department as Jervis starts to see some of his sister in Nathaniel Barnes due to him being infected with her blood. He remembers something Strange told him during his time in Indian Hill and, seeing the Court as the one riddle he could not solve, promises that he will solve it. After that, Nygma listens to After Ed gets the elevator out of Indian Hill, Right after Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock walked by, A guard spots Ed, He asks him about what he is doing out of his cell, A frightened Ed tells the guard that it was a big mistake, he tells the guard that he just got lost, and he tells him he wants to go back into his cell when Ed is back in his cell he tells himself he needs to get out somehow, before he spots the vent above his cell. As Oswald turns away from Nygma, Nygma asks himself who he is now that he isn't the Riddler anymore. Ed later sees Gordon leaving out of the Asylum and Ed promises to find a way to get out of there, as no one beat him, though Gordon reminded him that he did. Later on when Gotham City becomes a no man's land, Oswald kills Butch Gilzean as part of his revenge on Tabitha for killing his mother. Having foreseen that Gordon would come to this conclusion, Nygma activates a trap he set beforehand and electrocutes the chair Gordon, thereby knocking him out.


While Penguin appeals to Nygma to change, Nygma reveals that he is thankful for everything Penguin taught him about Jim Gordon. Oswald made an excuse he is tired, thus he went out of the scene, scheming how to separate Nygma and Isabella. Fox is unhappy, as per definition Fox' answer was correct. Oswald then steps out of the shadow and claims that he is not a coward, Nygma's riddles just suck. Oswald loudly states that there is nothing Nygma can do about this but Nygma smiles and claims that actually, there might be a way. Ed later receives a phone call from Oswald. Edward apologized for being so unclear and tells her that he loves to cook. Isabella later told him that she knows what happen.

Edward's schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder became all too clear; he had no capacity for remorse or mercy even taking some joy in murdering people, developing a much darker and sadistic personality and becoming a shameless serial killer and psychopath. At that point, Victor Fries reveals himself and shoots Nygma's gun out of his hand.

Having driven out of Gotham, Gordon and Nygma await the agents of the Court. Nygma makes a surprise breakfast for Isabella. Following the confrontation with Cobblepot, Sofia persuades Barbara's group to ally with her. The hallucination claims that no one can "teach" Nygma to become a villain, and that villains create themselves.

Oswald brings Edward a gift, a puzzle box that Oswald claims is incredibly hard to open. She gives him a location where Hugo takes bodies, with Ed walking away in satisfaction. However, Fox does not concentrate on the riddle anymore, as he has deduced from Nygma's outburst and comments that Nygma murdered Oswald. After Theo's death, Oswald's men abandon him, and he is later found and arrested by the GCPD. The remaining bikers who are not injures swiftly provoke a fight with the GCPD when the police refuses to let them into the hospital and during the chaos, Nygma who is disguised as a police officer confronts Aubrey James. Claiming that he initially planned to use it on the guards, he blows it into Penguin's throat instead. When Jim was framed for the murder of Carl Pinkney at the hands of Edward Nygma, Barnes believed that Jim committed the crime and the judge sentenced him to Blackgate Penitentiary. Jim answers the riddle by saying "Death." Isabella contacts Edward, asking him to meet him at her house and when he arrives he is confronted by her dressed as Kristen Kringle.

She and Valerie Vale were eventually kidnapped by Jervis Tetch as part of his revenge against Jim Gordon. Nygma later visits her in the records annex to explain what the gift was intended to represent--that "a beautiful woman is a dangerous thing"--but before Kristen can respond, Detective Unwilling to give up just yet, Nygma makes a card for Kristen and writes a short poem inside.
