Once we get into discussing the idea of alternate realities/dimensions, that's when all hope is lost. Right at this point I was like 'alright, I'm feeling this, I can get into this story, the professional critics were totally wrong about this movie'. Was genau dahinter steckt, sei an dieser Stelle natürlich nicht verraten. Und unter diesen Voraussetzungen lässt sich schnell erahnen, weshalb die Produktionsfirma mit der Idee, den Film nicht in die Kinos, sondern direkt bei einem Streamingportal unterzubringen, ganz gut gefahren ist: In seiner unausgegorenen Mischung aus klassischem Horrorfilm und Sci-Fi-Dystopie präsentiert sich die Geschichte nämlich lange Zeit ziemlich unentschlossen und kann dabei weder auf der einen, noch auf der anderen Seite so richtig punkten.Gegen die halbgaren physikalischen Einschübe in „The Cloverfield Paradox“ wirkt Christopher Nolans Mundy (Chris O’Dowd) ist immer für einen frechen Spruch zu haben…Trotzdem hat „The Cloverfield Paradox“ auch einige Szenen, an denen vor allem Liebhaber kreativer Effekte ihren Spaß haben werden.
